- 5 tbsp soy sauce (divided)
- 2 tbsp cornstarch (divided)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tsp sugar
- ½ cup water or beef broth
- 2 bell peppers (red and green), sliced
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Marinate the beef: Combine sliced beef with 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp cornstarch, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, whisk together remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and water or broth. Set aside.
- Cook the beef: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet over high heat. Add marinated beef in one layer and cook until browned (about 2–3 minutes per side). Remove from skillet.
- Stir-fry vegetables: In the same skillet, add remaining oil and stir-fry bell peppers and onion for about 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Combine: Return beef to the skillet and pour in the prepared sauce. Stir to coat and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes until thickened.
