  • 2 lbs ground beef (80% lean)
  • 2 cloves garlic, diced
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ¼ cup masa harina (white or yellow)
  • 15 oz kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 15 oz pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 14.5 oz diced tomatoes, with juice (for Instant Pot version only)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain excess grease.
  2. Add garlic and tomato sauce; cook until fragrant.
  3. Stir in chili powder and seasonings; reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.
  4. Combine masa harina with water; add to chili to thicken.
  5. Stir in beans and simmer for another 10 minutes.
  6. Serve hot with your choice of toppings.
