  • 1 lb. thinly sliced round steak (sirloin or venison)
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper (half red, half green), sliced
  • 5 tablespoons soy sauce (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (divided)
  • Garlic powder
  • Ground ginger
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. Slice onion and bell pepper; set aside.
  2. Marinate steak with 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, garlic powder, ginger, salt, and pepper for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix remaining soy sauce, cornstarch, and sugar to create the glaze; set aside.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat; sauté onions and bell peppers for 3-5 minutes and remove.
  5. In the same skillet, cook marinated steak for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  6. Add vegetables back to the skillet along with the glaze; stir for about 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens.
  7. Serve hot over white rice or noodles.
